It’s a mildly facelifted MkIV - they called it the Cortina 80.
Exactly the same car was sold in mainland Europe as the Taunus. It’s quite possibly a Ghia with the fancy alloys.

I didn’t even recognize it as a Cortina at all! (It can be hard identifying cars you didn’t grow up around.) Your post was extremely helpful. I ran some image searches as I learned more about the car. That’s when I saw the difference.
The MkIV and MkV are very similar. And the damage in the picture above made it real difficult to tell.

yeah, it was easy mode for me ‘cause there’s still a few Cortinas running about in Australia. Never spent any time with one though.

looks like an old Granada ghia to me
